Austad Campout: Manti

Well, since nothing has happened since Sept. last year maybe I should start saying something here. Despite our circumstances our family camp out in June worked out wonderfully. The fishing may have been better for some and the camp out may have run smoother if the road hadn't washed out. Thank you everyone who pulled it together and made it a great and memorable time. We had an amazing blanket placement on Manti hill. We could hear the gospel truths spoken under a clear starry night. Mary, Gloria, and Mom and Dad were able to experience it the following night. When Breakfast rolled around it was neat how we had the system down. I was heating up pancakes and warming up water for hot chocolate on a Colman and Mike and Bryan were taking care of the hash browns, bacon, and eggs on the camp chef. I should mention that breakfast was just one of the many great meals we had. Mike's potatoes and desert, Stacie's chicken, and Mary and Jill's pizza all cooked in the dutch oven were delicious. Some of us got a chuckle when Mike was trying to get a fire going from lent. Josh got tired of it after trying it once then, Ashley got interested, and after the third time, Madalyn poured water all over it. Well, I guess the fourth time we try this Mike we'll have to water proof it. We had a lot of fun. All the kids loved Alex's swing that we had a hard time imagining how he climbed the tree to hang. Thanks for the fun times everyone! And I hope we continue to have more.
By the way, we are still waiting to hear back if we are able to get any more than $4 back from the reservation. If you have pictures please post.

Vacation to Bryce Canyon with the Levesques

Our vacation started out by going to Mirror Lake on Monday in the Uintas. The weather was coll and a jacket felt comfortable. We fished down the stream from Mirror Lake and caught a few small minnow size fish. Wednesday we traveled to Bryce Canyon. It was the first time for us as well as the Levesque family. It was beatiful and breath taking, especially walking down the paths that lead to the bottom of the canyon. It was a spear joy being there with the Levesques, speaking french, meeting the majority of the tourist whom seemed to be vacationing from France. The food was great, the atmosphere exceptional, and the people were wonderful.
